Rolling In From The West

This is a picture I took late yesterday afternoon as the storms were rolling in from the West here in Tennessee. This turned out to be a deadly day for 11 people (at the time of this writting), and many homes were either lost or damaged. All this seemed too Deja-Veau from just 5 days earlier. The Tornado season here in Tennesse Rolled In With A Vengence here and gave us all a taste of what was to come. Tornado sirens went off in the area here where I'm located just before 2. I was at work over by the NIA (Nashville International Airport) and security came across the speakers to let us know they were sounding. I work in a highly security enforced building, but with lots of Windows. And being close to the airport at this time, did not make me feel any better. Everyone just kept working and then minutes later we were allowed to leave. Schools were holding some of the kids back because they just didn't feel it was safe for these kids to be out on the buses and on the roads. Others started letting them go early. Traffic was a mess and there were many people driving way over the speed limit I guess so they could get home, or get to their kids or wherever. I feel really safe at my home, so I just wanted to get there and stay there. I live in a two story Condo in one of the middle units and we are located up on a hill and my unit has a lower interior closet that is surrounded by walls and stairs, so that is my "safe" place when needed. I saw afew people standing in their doorways doing the same thing as me and my son. Watching and waiting to see if the "worse" was ever going to come. After it was over, we really felt spared the wrath of these storms....this time. The pictures that were taken by me are noted as such, and the others were taken from viewers from around the communitly and sent in to local tv and internet stations, so unfortunately I was unable to give proper credit to the some of the actual people who took some of these pictures. But I never recommend doing this, standing out in a storm that is about to "drop out of the sky" or by windows with lots of glass. This is just something I have done for years and I pretty much know when it's time to "go for cover".

Late Afternoon

Here's a picture that was taken right outside my front door, just as the rain was starting. This really did not look that bad at first.

Clouds Of Fury

These are some of the same clouds that spawned Tornadoes for hours straight across Western, Middle, and parts of the Central-East Tennessee. This Picture was taken by me, just before the storm started in my area. Look at those Awesome clouds!

Storm roars In

This was one of the many pictures I took from around my house yesterday here in Davidson County. These clouds were so awesome looking, and who was to know the fury they could cause.

Outside My Door

Here's a picture that was taken from right outside my front door showing the hail, just as it was starting to fall.

Hail in Antioch Tennessee

Well I live in an area in Nashville that seemed to have been spared from the wrath of these dangerous storms yesterday. While others in many areas received Golfball and baseball size hail, this is a picture taken of me holding a piece of what I had in my yard. Basically this stuff was just under the size of a dime.

Hail Storm

The storms yesterday contained lots of this stuff ranging in size from pea-size to actual baseball size. This was sent in to a local tv station from a viewer.

Sumner County Twister

Here is a picture that was taken by a local resident just as the twister was approaching in sumner county here in Tennessee. This area was among the hardest hit.

After the Storm

The storm here in Tennessee left widespread damage starting in West Tennessee and continued through parts of just East of Nashville here in Middle tennessee. This is one of the many photos that was circulating on the web late last night and today. There were no names or credits attached to the photo, so unfortunately I'm unable to give credit where credit is due.

Church Destroyed

This is a picture of a local church in Goodlettsville that aired on the web yesterday. This is a town that is about 20-30 miles to the NW of the Davidson county line.

Gallatin Tennessee Tornado caught on Tape

This is one of the many pictures that were photographed yesterday in Gallatin Tennessee. This is a town in Sumner county which is located about 50-60 miles NNE of Nashville where I am located.

Tornado from viewer's home video cam

This picture amazed me and it was sent in to a local tv station and caught the awesome tornado in perfect form. No names were provided on the pics and these are available for public viewing.

Awesome View

Rarely do we get such an awesome view in the sky here in Tennessee, but yesterday was an extreme exception. I stood and watched this one until it was out of sight. It made it look like the sky was on fire. This was taken from my back deck here in Middle Tennessee.

Late April Fools

Well this is what MotherNature fooled us with yesterday for about 30 minutes, before the weather turned gray again. Seemed like it was only a tease but it made for an awesome picture. I took this one myself using my Olympus C-765 Ultra Zoom digital Camera.
